Remembrance Day

They shall grow not old, as we who are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them

Photobucket

Today marks 90 years of the signing of the Armistice to end the First World War. However, we not only remember this, we also remember all those who lost their lives through war and conflict.
Ninety years of Remembrance
Do not forget Wear your poppy with pride.

When you go home tell them of us, and say; for your tomorrow we gave our today

That is a beautiful poem. It has great emotion in it, it stirs up feelings of sadness, anger, and gratefulness. So much violence, it's sad.

Mind if I post this in my journal?

Yeah. The full thing is a lot longer. I have it all on a card somewhere, but it's that verse that is used a lot. I couldn't find it all on the internet earlier and could only remember that bit. If I find the card, I'll post it all later.

Feel free to put in your journal though. This day only comes around once a year, even though they also have Remembrance Sunday as well. In all seriousness, if you do the 2 minute silence on each day, 4 minutes of silence to remember the fallen isn't anywhere near enough.

It really isn't enough. I think about it in my head, and I can't come up with anything better to say than "it's so sad/horrible". I fear WW3.

You and me both. That's one reason why I think it's important to remember what's happened etc.
