As soon as you feel that you're getting tired, just drink some coke (or coffee, I understand that some people actually like that stuff...) and have a piece of chocolate, that'll wake you up again. That's how I made it through 1) a school day, 2) a 14 hour bus drive during the night and 3) another day with a French host family without fainting :D (and of yourse, the same thing coming back *lol*)
Ive been alright with staying up in the early hours, thanks to sweets and red bull, though the first can was opened at 2am... at the moment im on cups of tea because my mother is supplying me with them but Im also having to find real food to munch on!
Nevertheless, so far so good. I'll let you know how far I make it! Am currently more awake than I was an hour ago!
